Drumming and the Cherry Blossoms

We were out at a cherry blossom viewing party and this great group of  kids were performing.  I marvel at the precision of of the movements, and the synchronization of the group.  It was quite dramatic and I was intrigued by the recounting of the stories and origins of the songs performed.  Songs of love and longing, evocative songs of hope for the future, and of course songs for martialing the troops.
It is obvious the martial origins of this art.  Very much a warriors music, the precision of the movements is quite reminiscent of Kendo sword fighting attack an defense movements. It was very physical and a joy to watch these youngster perform.
Made me want to run out and get a drum.
